About
Joseph Hackman joined ABST Law in September 2022 as an associate attorney. Joseph was raised in Bottineau, North Dakota. He earned a degree in Finance from the University of North Dakota in 2017, graduating summa cum laude. Following a short stint with U.S. Bank, Joseph attended the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he served as Student Articles Editor and Co-Symposium Editor of the North Dakota Law Review, Vice President of the Student Bar Association, and Treasurer of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society. Joseph was also a member of UND Law’s Trial Team and competed in internal Moot Court, earning the Best Appellee Brief award with his partner. He externed with both the District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the District of North Dakota and was a summer associate at a Bismarck firm. Throughout law school, Joseph was a recipient of honors, awards, and scholarships acknowledging his advocacy ability, academic achievement, and student involvement. Joseph graduated magna cum laude and was also recognized for graduating first in his class. Upon graduation, he was inducted into the Order of Barristers for his courtroom advocacy skills and into the Order of the Coif for his classroom work. Prior to joining ABST Law, Joseph served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Lisa Fair McEvers, Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Joseph is currently licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota and focuses his practice primarily on commercial litigation, civil litigation, bankruptcy, and family law. Outside the office, you can find Joseph spending time with his family and friends, sifting through used record shops, and wrenching on his Bronco.
